The Shetland Hap is traditionally the shawl to keep you warm whilst working in the cold windy Shetland isles. It could be square or triangular and was traditionally knitted in double knitting thickness of yarn, often the undyed yarn from the sheep, all of different shades.
There are many ways to knit a triangular shawl, and a Hap is constructed in a very particular way. In the workshop, we will knit our own miniature Hap (sample in blue below), so you can go home with confidence and knit the real thing!
This workshop is suitable for confident beginners. All materials will be provided however you may bring your own 4.0 mm needle if you'd like.
